Tioman - 8 to 11 June 2012

Alex, Lynn, Darric, Tanya, Yan En and I went Tioman to obtain our PADI open water dive!
Many thanks to Alex and Lynn for organising everything!

Dive school: B&J Dive Resort
Accommodation: B&J Dive Resort - super good! In all honesty, I was bit skeptic and concerned that the rooms of a dive school usually aint an important concern to dive students and the rooms were usually old and such and no attached toilets. Imagine my relief when I saw the rooms and how comfortable it was.
Cost: SGD 550 for the course and I think we prepped additional SGD 300 for transfers (of car + ferry) and meals

We set off in the morning from ICA Building car park with a 6-seater car to Mersing. Mersing is where the jetty is at to go do the numerous islands around Malaysia.

I was down with running nose so MEHHH. Didn't enjoy the ferry ride.

Finally we reached Tioman! Tioman has many small island within it like Salang, ABC etc. Our dive school was at ABC Island.

It was a 4D3N stay with 5x theory studies, 5x confired dives and 4x open water dive.

The hardest part for me is to set up the equipment to dive!

On the way back for the open water dive, Lynn ascended too fast and needed to be on oxygenated air for half an hour.

The whole experience was so relaxing! They only had a theory room "classroom" so sometimes when the classroom is being used, we would watch the video from our room.

We split into 2 groups - En, Darric and Alex 1 group then me, Lynn and Tanya another group.

And occassionally, we have the luxury of time for afternoon nap.
End of each day as we were done, we would walk out to the nearby "restaurants" and chit chat about our day.

We needed to walk all the way out to the other side but almost every night, we did manage to catch the sun set and the scenery was always gorgeous.

If we ain't too tired, we would hang out at the guys room to watch Shelock Holmes. :))

On the last day, the girls were done with the dives but the boys had to do 1 more open water dive.

Such life - I could get used to. Read my book, drink a fizzy soft drink and just soak into the air of the beach atmosphere.
It was so relaxing and when I returned back to office, one of my colleague commented I looked so relax!

Now when we get back, we created a group chat "Tioman Therapy Help Group" and we meet once a month to chit chat and perhaps next year, we would be planning a dive trip!
